In the Atchafalaya swamps and the Atchafalaya Spillway next to the Atchafalaya river there are thousands of animals with the fastest and most hunted the white tail deer. This Atchafalaya Spillway runs many miles from where the Ouachita (wash a taw), Black, Red, Mississippi and Atchafalaya rivers all connect within a few miles of each other.

The Atchafalaya Spillway runs through swampland down pass Morgan City, Louisiana into the Gulf of Mexico. The Atchafalaya River is the deepest and most treacherous river in the United States.

The best way to hunt a deer is find a small bayou (stream) and walk along the bayou until you find deer tracks where they have been crossing it while moving through the woods. You then walk off to the side about 100 feet and climb a tree or sit in a fallen tree top and wait for a deer to come down the path to either cross the bayou and hopefully stop and drink the water. That is when you take a steady aim for the center of the body and shoot with a 12 gauge shotgun or a deer rifle.
